Work Plan
The work of the PSF initiative is divided into three work packages.
WP 1 Format development
Work package 1 is responsible for specifying the navigable elements and the detailed concept of the PSF format. The work proceeds along the following functional building blocks:
- Basic Map Display
- Routing
- Names
- Traffic Information
- POIs and Travel Guides
- Advanced Map Display
For each building block, a logical and a physical model of the format are defined. Also, an update format is specified.
WP 2 - Prototyping (reference implementation)
The goal of work package 2 is a reference implementation for verifying that the format is technically sound. This includes the creation of test compilers to generate PSF compliant data and the development of an access library concept. The access library shall allow data retrieval from a PSF compliant navigation data carriers. Also, compiler output tests are performed within this work package.
WP 3 - Application verification and testing
Work package 3 aims at the development of a concept for validation, verification, and testing of the PSF standard. The concept shall cover both, short-term quality assurance for the PSF standard and long-term quality assurance for a continuous certification of future PSF compliant map database implementations. This includes concepts for performance, compliance, and syntax testing.
