What is the PSF initative?

The PSF initiative is an industrial cooperative of car manufacturers, system suppliers and map suppliers. The objective of the initiative is the standardisation of a physical storage format for car navigation systems.

What is the situation?

Today's car navigation systems have the disadvantage that each system needs its own physical format for digital map data. A direct exchange of map data between different car navigation systems is not possible.

Find a solution

Creating a new standardised binary PSF format opens many new possibilities: Compatibility, interoperability, flexibility and worldwide usability of the map data for car navigation systems.

On top of that

PSF will provide new features for car navigation systems. The "Update" of map data is only one of these features.
